My name is Sharon Sandhu, and I am seeking a seat on Mission City Council in this fall’s municipal election. I am running because Mission is growing, and the decisions made today will shape how families live, work and build their futures here. I want to bring practical experience, sound judgment and a people centred approach to those decisions.

I moved to Mission to join my husband’s family, who have called this community home since the 1970s.
Today, it is where we are raising our daughter and building our future. Becoming a mother made me think
more deeply about the kind of neighbourhood my daughter will grow up in. It also made me think about
the opportunities available to children and youth, and about what families need to feel safe, connected
and supported.

I bring over a decade of experience in financial management, disability case management, and project
management. My career includes finance leadership roles at two of Canada’s largest banks. Working in
both the public and private sectors has given me experience in governance, stakeholder relations and
conflict resolution. It has also strengthened my ability to assess complex information, make sound decisions and remain accountable for the results.

My commitment to service extends beyond my career. I have led and supported multiple fundraising
initiatives for BC Children’s Hospital and have volunteered with organizations that support individuals and families facing difficult circumstances. Through these experiences, I have provided compassionate, client centred support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and contributed to initiatives that strengthen the health and well being of our communities. These opportunities have reinforced the importance of empathy, collaboration and giving back.

These experiences have shaped how I would serve on Council. I would listen carefully, treat people with respect and make decisions based on evidence, long term impact and the best interests of the community.

My priorities are safer neighbourhoods, stronger recreation and more opportunities for children and youth. I also want residents to receive clear, transparent communication from City Hall. As Mission grows, our roads, services and public spaces must keep pace. Growth should improve life for the people who already call Mission home while welcoming the families and businesses that will help shape its future. Good planning is not only about how much we build. It is about building a community that remains safe, connected and livable.

I am grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their concerns, experiences and hopes for Mission with me. Those conversations are at the heart of my campaign. They have reinforced why I decided to run and will continue to guide me throughout this journey. As you choose the next members of Council, I hope to earn your trust and the opportunity to serve our community.
