ABBOTSFORD, BC — Cyrus Centre is inviting the community to take part in Leap of Faith 2026, a tandem skydiving fundraiser taking place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Skydive Vancouver in Abbotsford. The event aims to raise $200,000 this year. Funds raised will go toward supporting Home at Last, Cyrus Centre’s transitional housing program for youth aged 16–24. The program helps young people move toward independence by providing a shared home, affordable rent, groceries, consistent staff support, and time to build the skills needed for long-term housing stability. “Leap of Faith gives people a practical way to support youth in our community,” said Rachael Krause, Cyrus Centre’s Event Coordinator. “The funds raised help provide stable housing and consistent support for young people who need a safe place to land as they work toward independence.”

Participants in Leap of Faith commit to fundraising minimum $800 and complete a guided tandem skydive with certified instructors. The event is also open to the wider community. From 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., guests can attend the drop zone, enjoy food trucks and family- friendly activities, and watch local jumpers take part throughout the day. No registration is required to attend as a spectator.

The need for safe, stable housing for youth remains significant. Across British Columbia, approximately 7,000 youth experience homelessness annually. Research also shows that 75% of adults experiencing chronic homelessness first experienced homelessness as youth. So early intervention and safe shelter create conditions for progress in education, employment, and long-term independence.
