Ranveer, FWICE end standoff
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) said it has withdrawn the non cooperative directive issued against Ranveer Singh over his exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 after the Dhurandhar star sent a legal notice to the organisation. The decision was taken after an intervention by the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), the Producers Guild of India (PGI) and Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).“We are taking back our non cooperative directive from immediate effect after a request by IMPPA, the producers’ guild and CINTAA. We have been told that we should all sit together with the producers’ body and take an appropriate decision where neither the producers and directors nor the actor face any issues,” FWICE president BN Tiwari told reporters here. “No one has won or lost in this matter. Our legal department will respond to his legal notice,” he added. The non-cooperation directive against Singh was issued May 25 and came after Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani filed a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), which referred the issue to the FWICE for further intervention. Don 3, a reboot of the popular franchise, has reportedly been in development for three years and was yet to begin shooting. The producers have claimed that over Rs 45 crore had already been spent on pre-production.
Triptii recalls childhood beatings
Actress Triptii Dimri, whose latest release is the chaotic comedy drama Maa Behen, took a trip down memory lane and shared amusing anecdotes from her childhood, saying that she got her fair share of beatings while growing up. Triptii recalled her younger days with humour, and said that getting punished by parents was a common experience. Asked if she’s had her share of scoldings and ‘maar’ from parents, Triptii told this agency: “I think everyone has gotten a beating from their parents at some point. I was beaten quite a lot growing up.” She added with a laugh: “The day I didn’t, I used to get beaten up… I used to go home and someone would say, ‘what happened? you seem very happy today’.” Maa Behen by Suresh Triveni is streaming on Netflix. It also stars Madhuri Dixit Nene, Dharna Durgaa, and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles. They are joined by Geetanjali Kulkarni, Arunoday Singh, and Shardul Bhardwaj. At the heart of Maa Behen is Rekha, a mother who’s already juggling enough until life throws her the ultimate curveball, a dead body in her kitchen. Manoj on why Gen Z should watch Governor
The 3-time National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee has shared why the
younger generation should watch his upcoming film Governor. The actor spoke with during the promotions of the film in the city, and shared that the Gen Z should know that today, the money in their pockets is because of a series of financial decisions and actions in the lead up to the New Economic Policy and what followed after. The film is reportedly inspired by S. Venkitaramanan, who served as RBI Governor during India’s 1991 economic crisis and was closely associated with the country’s financial rescue period. Manoj told this agency, “They should know that there was a time when there were no soft drinks. There was no mall. So, we are talking about that time. In 1992, the first cricket match was telecast. So, we are talking about that time. So, this is going to be quite an education (for the younger generation)”. The actor proudly flaunted his research work in front of, as he said, “I have prepared so much for this interview because, It’s been so long since I worked on the film”. Governor is presented by Sunshine Pictures, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar. It is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and written by Suvendu Bhattacharjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film is set to release June 12, 2026.
Bhumi gets candid about SocMed fame
During a recent panel debate, actor Bhumi Satish Pednekkar discussed follower-driven casting, noting, “I feel I am very lucky that I did not debut in that era, otherwise I don’t feel an actor like me would have reached this far.” She stated that digital metrics alter stardom, adding, “Because now, it’s all dependent on social media followers. An increased number of social media followers gives you a niche, but a niche does not convert to ticket sales. “Respecting content creators, she added, “This is not to discredit anybody. People have built their followers on sheer efforts. I’m not trying to discredit anybody.” She maintained, “All I’m trying to say is that acting is a serious profession, and you need to be an actor to survive it.” Regarding industry shifts, she explained, “I feel that followers based casting continued till recently, but now there is a realisation that there could be a big community, but that community is not because of acting.” She remarked, “It takes a lot of effort to get an audience to spend money on you, because nobody likes spending that much money on someone else.”
Retro romance woos Janhvi
Actress Janhvi Kapoor has revealed what she loves the most about the 1980s era and revealed that she absolutely loves the films from a bygone era. Calling herself “quite nostalgic,” Janhvi said she is inclined towards the grand, larger-than-life storytelling and romance that defined many classic movies. Since her film Peddi is based in the 1980’s, what does she like about that era? Janhvi told this agency: “I think it’s the films. I’m quite nostalgic. I love the films from that era. I think they were so maximalist and romantic. And yeah, I’m a sucker for those films.” Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi, also features names such as Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu. It features Ram Charan as a ‘crossover athlete’ excelling in cricket, wrestling, and sprinting. The actress plays his love interest Achiyamma in the Telugu film.
