Journey to 2036 – Award-winning video series continues with seven new episodes

ABBOTSFORD –The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce the launch of Season 2 of Journey
to 2036, the innovative video series that follows students’ educational journeys from early learning
through to graduation. Season 2 is now underway and will feature seven new episodes airing now
through June, offering an engaging look at student learning, growth and connection.

The series debuted in 2025 and quickly captured community interest for its authentic storytelling and
student voice. Recently, Journey to 2036 received national recognition when the Abbotsford School
District’s Communications team earned a Canadian Association of Communicators in Education (CACE)
Award of Excellence, celebrating the project’s impact and creative approach.

Season 2 follows a Grade 2 cohort, highlighting the curiosity, creativity and confidence that shape early
learning experiences. Through candid conversations and classroom moments, the series showcases
students exploring numeracy through hands-on problem-solving, discovering the joy of reading,
building friendships, and reflecting on kindness and belonging at school. Episodes also capture students
imagining their futures, as they enthusiastically share dreams of becoming everything from engineers
and doctors to firefighters and digital creators.

“Journey to 2036 is about amplifying student voice and giving learners the opportunity to share their
perspectives, ideas and aspirations,”
said Superintendent Nathan Ngieng. “Season 2 continues to
highlight how students express themselves, reflect on their learning, and see their place within our
schools and community.”
