Mund has lived in Canada since 2006 after immigrating from Punjab, India with a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Punjab.

As a newcomer to Canada, Mund was retrained in the health care field and worked at Ebenezer Care Home in Abbotsford and Brookside Lodge Care Home in Surrey. His professional journey then led him into the construction field, and later the transportation sector.

Community advocate and local father of four Amritpal Mund has announced his entrance into the school trustee race.

“I decided to run this year because our education system is at a critical crossroads and families feel left out of the conversation,” he said. “As a father with kids currently in the system, I see that the focus has drifted away from foundational learning and academic achievement toward non-academic agendas. I am stepping up now to ensure that parent voices are heard, classroom funds are spent responsibly, and our schools return to prioritizing core education and real career opportunities.”

Mund noted that his children range in age from 10 years old to university age, and those experiences have helped him recognize what is needed within the system for students to succeed.
