Recently, the Spanish Grand Prix International Wrestling Tournament was held in the beautiful
city of Madrid, Spain. Wrestlers, both male and female, from around the world participated in the
competition with great enthusiasm.

Representing Canada’s national wrestling team, Rupinder Kaur Johal, a student at Simon
Fraser University, won the bronze medal in the 76 kg weight category. This is a proud
achievement for the Punjabi community. She is the first Punjabi female wrestler to win a medal
at this prestigious tournament.

Coach Buta Singh Dhindsa and Rupinder Kaur Johal’s parents deserve congratulations for their
dedication and commitment in supporting and training the young wrestler with great
perseverance.
