A trio of exciting running and walking events are coming up in the Fraser Valley. Get ready to lace up your running shoes, register your friends, family and co-workers, and make a lasting impact on improving local health care for your community and neighboring ones.

Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation would like to announce their three upcoming fundraising walk/run events taking place across the Fraser Valley this May.

“The funds raised at each walk go toward purchasing medical equipment for that community’s hospital,” Executive Director Liz Harris explains. “Funds raised in Abbotsford will benefit the cardiac unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Funds raised in Chilliwack support the maternity department at Chilliwack General Hospital. Funds raised in Hope will purchase a medical ophthalmic device for Fraser Canyon Hospital that measures intraocular pressure — the pressure inside the eye — which is a key test in diagnosing and managing glaucoma and other eye conditions. Getting involved in these events is a wonderful way to give back to the community while enjoying the fresh air and staying active with friends.”

First up is Run for Hope, taking place May 2nd. This 5 kilometer run/walk loop starts at Fraser Canyon Hospital and moves along the Coquihalla River, Thacker Park, and back to the hospital.

A week later is The Walk for Cardiac Health in Abbotsford. We’re inviting walkers of all abilities to join us for a beautiful lakeside stroll at Mill Lake park. What better way to support our cardiac department by raising funds while improving your own heart health?

Last but certainly not least, celebrate Mother’s Day with us on May 10th, 2026, for a special 5km run/walk that gives back to the community. Run for Mom is a fun and meaningful way to honor all mothers while supporting the maternity department at Chilliwack General Hospital. All proceeds will go towards enhancing the hospital’s maternity care and services, helping ensure the best care for new and expecting mothers.
